Constance B. Moore
President & Chief Executive Officer
Constance B. Moore has been our Director since 2002. Ms. Moore has served as BRE's President and Chief Executive Officer since 2005, and was President and Chief Operating Officer in 2004.
Moore has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. Prior to joining BRE in 2002, she was the managing director of Security Capital Group & Affiliates. From 1993 to 2002, Moore held several executive positions with Security Capital Group, including co-chairman and chief operating officer of Archstone Communities Trust. She held the same position at Security Capital Atlantic, Inc., a predecessor of Archstone, playing an instrumental role in its initial public offering. During her tenure at Security Capital Group, she served on the boards of directors of both public and private companies owned or controlled by that organization.
Moore holds an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University. In 2009, she served as chair of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), and now serves on the Executive Committee. Currently, she is chair of the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics Policy Advisory Board at UC Berkeley, a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Real Estate Roundtable, a member of the Joint Center for Housing Studies Policy Advisory Board at Harvard University, a member of the National Multi-Housing Council, and chair of the San Jose State University Tower Foundation.
Stephen C. Dominiak
Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer
Stephen C. Dominiak, executive vice president and chief investment officer (CIO), joined BRE in September 2008. As CIO, Dominiak is responsible for all investment-related activities, including strategic and tactical considerations; sourcing new development opportunities and stabilized property acquisitions; land entitlement; product development; and construction. He also oversees investment policies, asset allocation guidelines, underwriting, and compliance and risk procedures.
Over his 20-year career in real estate, Dominiak has played a leadership role in the acquisition, renovation, development and construction of 13,000 multifamily units with a total cost of more than $3.0 billion. Prior to BRE, Dominiak was divisional president and managing partner at JPI's western division. Prior thereto, Dominiak was a Group Vice President with Archstone communities.
Dominiak received an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine, and both a master's degree in city and regional planning and a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Texas, Arlington.
Dominiak is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Multi Housing Council.
John A. Schissel
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
John A. Schissel joined BRE Properties as executive vice president, chief financial officer (CFO) in October 2009.
As CFO, Schissel is responsible for all corporate-related accounting, treasury and finance activities; investor relations; capital formation; internal audit; and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Prior to joining BRE, Schissel served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and board member for Carr Properties. From 1991 to 2004, Schissel worked at Wachovia Securities (and predecessor institutions), serving as senior vice president in the firm's REIT Corporate Banking Group and as a director in the firm's Real Estate Investment Banking Group.
Schissel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Georgetown University.
Kerry Fanwick
Executive Vice President, General Counsel
Kerry Fanwick, executive vice president, general counsel, provides general legal counsel to BRE in the areas of corporate structure, property transactions, finance and employment. He also serves as corporate secretary.
Fanwick, who joined BRE in 2007, is the co-founder and former partner of Miller & Fanwick, LLP, a law firm specializing in business and financial strategies. His areas of expertise include accounting and financial analysis, corporate structuring and restructurings, tax-advantaged real estate transactions and tax-exempt financings. Previously, he served as general counsel for First Nationwide Bank; an attorney at the law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati; and in-house counsel and a member of senior management for various financial services and real estate companies.
Fanwick received his juris doctor degree from Stanford Law School. He is also a California Certified Public Accountant.
Scott A. Reinert
Executive Vice President, Operations
Scott Reinert, 52, joined BRE in January 2011 as executive vice president, operations. He oversees property operations and related corporate services, including facilities management, sales and marketing, and corporate communications.
Reinert has more than 20 years of experience in property management and operations. From 1994 to 2009, he was employed by the Irvine Company in Newport Beach, Calif. In his last position at the Irvine Company, he served as senior vice president, property management, for the Irvine Company Apartment Communities, overseeing the operations of 95 apartment communities, comprising 37,000 units, including about 2,000 development lease-up units a year, and more than 1,000 on-site associates. His first position was vice president, asset management, Irvine Apartment Communities, then a public real estate investment trust. In 1998, he was promoted to president, Irvine Apartment Management Company, leading the operations of multifamily portfolio that grew from 17,000 to 25,000 units in five years. After leaving the Irvine Company, Reinert founded Axiom Multifamily Realty Advisors, Inc., to invest in and manage properties in the Southwest. His career in property management also included GFS Northstar (now Pinnacle) in Atlanta, where he rose to chief operating officer, east, in four years.
Reinert holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate and risk management from Florida State University. He is a Certified Property Manager, a California-licensed real estate broker, and a member of the South Coast Apartment Association, for which he has served in various leadership and board positions, and the California Apartment Association.
Deborah J. Jones
Executive Vice President, Associate Relations & Development
Deborah J. Jones was promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president, associate relations and development in October 2010.
Jones, who joined BRE in 2005, is responsible for human resources functions, benefits administration, training, HR information systems, performance evaluation and career planning programs, and compensation management. She also works with the executive team and board of directors on management development.
Jones has more than 25 years of experience as an HR professional. She began her career in the apartment industry in 1984 as director, human resources for Trammell Crow Residential-West (TCR-W), which was acquired by BRE in 1997, and continued in that role as vice president for BRE after the acquisition. From 2000 to 2005, she served as vice president, human resources for The Irvine Company Apartment Communities.
Jones is a member of the National Multi Housing Council’s compensation committee and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She is a professionally certified executive coach and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hertford College in Hertford, England.
